Do do-follow backlinks from authority sites still have power if they dont have an anchor text ?

Do backlinks from HIGH PR and authority sites still have strong value if there's no anchor text but just a link ? I know the anchor text helps to rank keywords , but what would happen in case the link is at at a high PR and authority site and is DO-FOLLOW ?

    A naked link is fine If that's your only option, a couple of things that can help.

    Use the keyword in the URL:



    Surround the link with plain text keywords.

      Thanks yukon , very helpful ... So the link doesn't have an anchor text because the forum I was on did not allow me to manually code it with HTML , but the naked link is there . And yes it is surrounded by text .. so will it still generally give my site a boost in Google search results ?

        Forum pages tend to be moderated, nofollow, weak (no supporting links).
        • Is the link followed?
        • Does the backlink page have any authority (decent long term links pointing at the backlink page)?

        Paginated forum thread pages don't usually have any supporting links.

          Yes the link is followed , there's no nofollow tag .. Quick question yukon , since you know that forums usually dont support links, which is true .. Where do you usually go to get nice do-follow links ?? Your answer to this question would really be appreciated.
