Techniques to do Keyword Research correctly I Need Help

I perform keyword research with Google keyword Planner and find something hard to identify which is best keyword. I have known that to do keyword research with exact match search type , but i do not find this option in keyword planner tool! Is it has changed?
More ever, please suggest me how to perform keyword research well and please share your valuable Techniques while researching keyword for blog!

    All the results in GKP are exact match.

    You will find dozens of KW research videos on You Tube, go check some out.

    You can search for search volume in GKT, use Market Samurai to do KW research, there are plenty of guides on youtube and google on how to use MS for good KW.
