When doing local SEO, is it better to use:

pizza place in Dallas OR pizza place

If it's local, the people in Dallas should be getting Dallas-area only results, so is the "Dallas" addition to the keyword necessary?

It's not imperative. But if it won't hurt, why not?

So you use "garage flooring in X" instead of "garage flooring" and that helps you rank? How competitive is your niche in your city? Curious if you also rank for just "garage flooring."

Necessary, no. Useful, yes. Very useful.

If you don't have it in the domain name, have it in the url of a page.

Definitely will have the keyword in the page URL, but you're saying ALSO put the city in the page URL?

Yes. More local long-tail keyword results depends on the location of the user running the search query.
