Own 2 websites redirect to the other will it affect rankings?

Hello first of all thanks to anyone who can help me.
I own two websites in the same niche both targeting local search engine results i want to redirect one of the websites to the other as one generates more traffic than the other.

Whats the best way to do this and will it be negative on my existing rankings for both sites?

    If the websites are relevant then it shouldn't hurt you. Take the domain you want to redirect and setup a Permanent Redirect from inside your registrar. The permanent redirect will take any authority that domain had and forward it to the domain it's being redirected too. This shouldn't help you, if the domain isn't penalized and has some authority it should actually help you instead
