A Quick Question to all the SEO Experts

I wrote a Squidoo lens on a topic few months back with the keyword in the url having about a million competing pages in Google. At that time, I wasn't smart enough to know I should be choosing a better keyword.
However, the lens is very well written and I was wondering if I can start building links for other keywords.
What I mean is, say if my squidoo lens is squidoo.com.makemoneyonline, obviously there is no point in building back links for the keyword make money online, but how about, building backlinks with the anchor text- make money online from home etc? Would that be a sensible tactic? Would you advise to build multiple backlinks with multiple low competition keywords?
