An infographic is a graphic visual representation of information, data or knowledge intended to present information quickly and clearly. Infographic submission is when you send your infographic to bloggers/sites in your sector who you think will be interested in publishing it. They publish it if they wish, linking back to your site in the post. This provides you with a great way to get high-quality backlinks!

    Hope this helps.

There are lot of infographic submissions sites like Visual.ly. Those are very weak backlinks and it will add very small value to the rankings. But you can use your inforgraphic in other way to create high quality backlinks.

    #1: Publish a Useful Infographic.
#2: Create a List of People That Are Interested In Your Infographic’s Topic
#3: Send Your First Outreach Email
#4: Offer Up a “Unique Intro”
#5: Get Your Contextual, White Hat Backlinks

I think infographics work well if you have a popular blog. It also work well on social media. People are lazy to read but they like pictures.

Lol, a mod deleted that. But they let stupid crap all over this forum stay up. That's rich.

Anyhow, I did not say that infographics are a waste of time. The OP was asking about infographic submission, which generally means mass submitting infographics to infographic dumps/directories. That is a waste of time.

Now if you create a great infographic and market it properly that is totally different.

An infographic is basically link bait, which is web content that was created to attract attention and is interesting enough for people to pass on. A big part of SEO is building the number of inbound links that point to your website or webpage. Since infographics display information in a pretty package so that people can quickly grasp a concept, they will, in theory, result in lots of inbound links back to your website as more and more people share it.

I do believe in Infographic and if it produces high quality + unique values to people or a niche or probably "easily viral & snackable contents", then people will be willing to share on Social Media and to link naturally back to the Infographic url. In this case, this will help your SEO in terms of Authority. I don't believe in mass submission as it can produce little or no value / spammy in terms of SEO.

Better to have 1 or 2 high quality backlinks than have 1,000 very low or spammy ones.

So think well before designing your infographic. Ask yourself some questions like:
    1. Why this infographic?
    2. What problems are you trying to solve?
    3. What solutions you are proposing
    4. For whom it is for?
    ....

Just my two cents on infographic (we had some serious content campaigns built around them last summer and we learned a lot about them):

    - While you can occasionally get links with infographics, they are primarily suited for social shares (go find some of the best ones out there on Visual.ly.com or Google and view the number of backlinks they get outside of infographic directories and Pintres - not many). Now look at how many shares they get on social. Big numbers! The infographic genre is best suited for social.
    - Many websites with blogs appreciate good infographics, but the majority of them are still very much concerned with duplicate content issues. If you offer up an infographic to a website, you are reducing your chances of getting it published if the graphic was already published on your own site.
    - Flip-side: because infographics are viewed more as an image rather than an article, some sites will accept them even though they have been published elsewhere, so long as they (or you) can write a unique post to go with it. Just expect this - perhaps suggest it in your request.
    - Infographics need to be beyond good these days to even catch a website owner's attention. I've been told numerous times by website partners I contribute content to how they get up to 30 infographic submissions per day! Make sure yours is amazing instead of just contributing to the content-reviewing clog out there that's making content campaigns harder on the rest of us.

First of all you have to understand, what is infographic- infographic is a image of visual content which includes any kind of data like statics or step by step process etc...

Yes infographic submission is effective if you have data which is really acceptable by others, because if you create an infographic which is informative then people will use it on their website and give you link back.

Infographics are great for blogger outreach and getting influencers to share your content, thus build your own following, build your list and increase awareness of your content.
Check out Brian Dean's case studies and his students results from doing infographics for Traffic & SEO SEO Strategy Case Study: 963% More Organic Traffic.
I did a webinar on this a couple of weeks back too, you can check it out here How To Use Infographics For White Hat SEO Backlinks and watch the case study in real time when i get my infographic back.
On that point, be careful where you order infographics, from my experience its better to pay more and get better quality and delivery on time.
I have had 2 done so far that i cannot use from fiverr due to poor quality.
In the end i decided to pay more and hence, the delay in getting my case study off the ground.
You can even hire people to create the infographic and do the blogger outreach too, it costs a bit more but it really is about ROI
