Here is a tip that I have been sharing with clients.

When building an ecommerce site -most people just throw up a bunch of pictures with a little description a shopping cart and then hope for the best....lets face it when was the last time you found a site like this in your search results?

Today more and more ecommerce sites are switching over to "content based ecommerce sites." Content is the food that search engines like - so why try feeding it something it wont eat?

In addition content on ecommerce sites - can act as an excellent pre-selling tool.

Good luck with your ecommerce!

I agree. If you look at any of the large retailers they now have blogs, forums, reviews and so on. In today's IM world no stone can be left unturned because your competition is sure to look under them.

I totally agree with the post although the idea of content driven e-commerce sites is nothing new!

Allowing for user generated content like reviews is a must in today's ecommerce sites. It makes your site more sticky as well as keeping the page fresh with new content.

Engagning both the customer and making SEO sense at the same time is great and also a good way to keep improving your site. I especially like sites that manage to get the consumer to help generate information not only with product reviews.
