Best Backlinks SEO Strategy for Authority Blogging?

First of all, "getting backlinks quickly" is already a major red flag buddy!

You should never ever get backlinks fast! ..period!

The "Pros" do not get backlinks quickly. Where did you learn that?

They surely get backlinks in a very smart way - but never fast.

Getting backlinks fast will only hurt you more than help (if it ever helps you that is).

How "quickly" your pages get backlinks will depend on your Domain Authority and your Domain Age. The older the domain and the higher the domain authority - the safer it becomes to give it backlinks "quickly". Hope you get what I mean here.

Backlinks are supposed to be a NATURAL thing. It was never designed to be something people actually pay for and purposely get. So, in a sense, all SEO is blackhat. "White Hat SEO" is just an illusion (or excuse). LOL

The moment you are purposely creating a backlink to your page on another site - it becomes a black hat strategy. Because, the only reason you are consciously creating that backlink is to "cheat the search engines" to get higher rankings. Isn't that right?

I wouldn't stress too much about getting backlinks dude!

Focus more on Generating Traffic to your pages and let the backlinks grow Naturally.

This is the best way to build a successful blog or website online. If you get too caught up in the SEO "teaching" you will find so many contradictions. You just mentioned a few here!

People are really running away from the Search Engine Basics. Because the Laziness in our specie is growing rapidly.

People just want to rank crappy content on the search engines fast and make lots of money online that way - so they can scratch their butts on a couch, while watching the Simpsons and eating chips.

Nothing wrong with the latter - or even with being a bit "lazy". You just have to be Ambitiously Lazy, I've learned.

Work smart, and build Online Assets the Right Way. And trying to fool the search engines is not working smart at all.

You have to lead with REAL VALUE Online if you really want the search engines to give your content good rankings.

You are overlooking one simple fact; the search engine's main Priority is THEIR USER.

Without their user the search engines are out of business.

So, if you want the search engines to love your content - you need to make their user love you first!

Please the search engine users, and the search engines will please you.

That's it!

But how can you really deliver the best of the best to the search engine users if you are too focused on ranking fast and getting a lot of backlinks?

You see how wrong this approach is?

The Pros know this my friend. And it is time you realize the truth as well!

The only two things you should focus on - in order to benefit BIG from the search engines is; High Quality Content AND a shit load of Targeted Traffic.

Nothing to do with Backlinks!

The backlinks will come naturally.

Firstly, thanks for the reply and the link to your post, it was interesting and helpful.

I probably should have been more clear. I do understand not to spam backlinks and not to build links too quickly especially at the early stage of a site, just feel like getting quality backlinks by building relationships is very slow, more so if you have more than one site in different niches.

But your link was very helpful. You are right, I'm definitely NOT marketing the hell out of each post, I see my mistake now. I've been putting all my efforts into providing great content then expecting some kind of magic to take place. Turns out if you build it and do nothing, they won't come. My weakness has therefor been promotion. I need to learn how to promote each post better. How exciting. thanks for the help. It's so obvious when I think about it yet here I am hearing the penny drop.

My 2 authority sites have been making sales, I guess I became complacent and just expected that to grow. Path of least resistance eh. Lesson learned. Thanks again.

Say I get an article written in Huffington Post that links to one of my sites. Say 2,000 of the readers, the 1st day they see the article, click on my link, like my site, link to it from their site.

On top of that, say my site is only 3 days old.

Is getting those 2,000 backlinks in 4 days too fast, a red flag?

What if Google takes 5 weeks to index them all? What if Google takes 12 weeks to index them all?

If it were that easy, I'd buy a bunch of cheap links and point them to the page ahead of mine. Oh, wait, they'd buy links fast to my page too and nothing would change. Unless I buy them faster?

Surely this means the only way to start out is to go after VERY low competition phrases so not too many backlinks are needed and grow at a snails pace.

If the link is on a relevant page/domain it's impossible to know who built the link, doesn't matter If it's a paid link or free link. Assuming whoever built the link is smarter than a 5th grader and doesn't add links to pages/domains that advertise followed backlinks in any way shape or form.

One size fits all isn't realistic for link building, each site is unique. Nobody is giving you a link If your site is pharma or payday, etc... If your site is related to a mommy blog (example) you'll get 100s/1000s of links with little effort because those are the types of sites that generate organic links on their own.

Owning a private link network can help since you never start at zero as far as backlinks but it's not usually an end all solution, there's still work to be done (ex building additional links) depending on how tough the SERP competition is for each individual keyword. Example, trying to rank for the buy auto insurance keyword is far more difficult than buy auto insurance for teenager in fargo.

Learn how SEO silos work and you'll get far more bang for your buck than having a typical site/blog structure.

Thanks for your input, as always very helpful and thought provoking. I found a great post about SEO silos. After reading it I don't know whether to be happy or totally depressed. Damn do I need to make some changes to my site and content structure. Better to learn now rather than later.

Silos do have me concerned though as it effects the overall theme of the sites relevancy as seen by the search engines. I wonder how ecommerce sites go on with this. I'm building one of those presently. For example, If you sell treadmills and have content to compliment the sales listings with treadmill reviews, after getting some sales you might think it a good idea to start selling rowing machines too, why not, both in cardio health and fitness. But then google will see this change and "think", what are you, running or rowing. Screw it you're not on point I'll deliver a specific rowing site result higher than yours.

I'm especially concerned the article I read about silos states that if you don't have enough content on a certain subject in your site, it's almost as bad as not having it at all. You must stay on point. Maybe I'm taking it too literally but I definitely need to make changes.

Despite what FreedomBlogger said above, there is absolutely nothing wrong with getting backlinks fast. That is a huge myth that just won't die.

What Yukon mentioned about silos is your best bet for ranking multiple posts about similar topics without constantly having to build/acquire links to each individual post.

As for your concern about changing topics, it won't be an issue. You have a silo about treadmills. You decide to start marketing row machines, then just build a silo about those. It's the silos that have the specific relevancy on the topic, not necessarily the overall site.

According to me Guest Posting is the best way to get quality backlinks. After that Blog commenting is also a good strategy.

The best links to your website are the ones coming from real websites, with good content and lots of social media shares.
You can either earn these back links or develop them yourself. As long as they come from the authority web sites in your specialized niche, they have great SEO value. I will not insist on a specific link building method, because what works for me, might not work for you. This is the reason, why, at the starting of the article I said you should do your own tests and decide what is best for your website.
