Add your site in two places:

1) Google Local Business Center http://www.google.com/local/add/
 Requires Google Account.

2) Qype OR your local yellow page service that Google uses to store information always on the top of Search Engine Result Pages.

    It's also worth adding your listing in the major local directories. Here in the UK we have a few UK only business directories - after adding to these, my position in local business search rose to the top as well as my organic listings.
