Linking to B2B site from main site

Hello Friends, be awesome to see what you think: I'm reviewing a site and the main customer website links out to a separate sister/B2B.com domain in the top navigation dropdown. The B2B site ranks for similar keywords to the main domain. Do you know, does Google frown on this? Is it best to unlink the B2B from the main site and have two standalone sites? Or, is it best to 301 redirect the B2B site and keep one main site? Be brilliant to have your views on this. Thanks so much.
