Link reclamation: Do the back-links must be pointed to right pages?

Hi,

Our previous website URLs were not redirected to separate pages but to homepage only. I am just wondering if they are separately pointed to the related pages; will that makes a difference for Google and improve our rankings? Anyhow all the backlinks will be having our brand mentioned, but how much other content around the link must be related to the page it is pointing to?

    First of all if you are changing site than make sure your old urls redirect to the new ones just to be exact. And if your links were pointed to the old inner pages of your site than they will be redirected to the new ones as when you do redirect them to the new ones.

    Don't build all backlinks to home page/brandname. You should separate backlinks for child pages also.

    .we usually put backlinks for home and service pages..you can put backlinks for particular pages what is appropriate for ur products or keywords..suppose you have two products i.e. laptop and mobiles..so for laptop related keywords you have to show google the laptop related service page not mobile related..so spiders or robot can analys easily your page.

    Links should point to the best page for whatever information it is telling readers they will get by going to the link.
