Just check their ratings/reviews on there, read them properly and see for yourself whether that's what you wanna do.

Don't take any of those SEO credentials seriously on the freelance sites. Their SEO test are usually a bunch of nonsense.

I used to use odesk, right now its name been changed to upwork, i like it so much because of they paid in time but sometimes give so much correction, at this time its difficult to understand what they actually want. but odesk work nice with me.

Here's what I usually do for any freelance site. I pick a work category that I want help with like content writing. Then I find 4-5 freelancers that have good reviews and purchase the minimum gig offering.

Out of those 4-5 I might find one freelancer that I actually want to work with long-term and the money I spent with the rest is just a cost of doing business.

Google "outsource seo services" or anything similar and find Soderman Marketing. Maybe three or four. Either way, they do some SEO for us but can be pricey depending on industry. Worth it though...

You get what you pay for when you hire cheap SEO freelancers. Most of them usually provide some web 2.0 profiles that provide no real value.

Depends what are you looking for. It's very important to understand and know your needs before looking for anything.

If you understand the whole SEO process and how BIG it became today I would recommend splitting the BIG into small tasks defined by the category such as copywriting, blog outreach, keyword research,...an so on...

When you will have all these try to find the freelancers as per the given tasks.

Outsourcing the whole SEO process to just a person (which is not even an agency) won't bring you results just because people usually are great at single working niches.

Odesk now is becoming Upwork and I think it's good to choose a right one based on their reviews.

I mainly find freelancers on onlinejobs.ph these days, though I do use odesk/upwork as well. In general, I haven't had much of a problem with them but that's because I screen them carefully. I do what Blakers does--I review several freelancers with excellent ratings and hire the one that offers the best deal. Also, if I were you I'd try asking the freelancer's old clients how exactly their experience has been. Gives you a good idea of what to expect.

Skilled SEO pros with serious connections, serious writing abilities, and all that juice you want to hire, yeah, these folks charge rates eons above the rates folks charge on the sites you are talking about.

Look to Google or top industry blogs in the SEO niche. Pay up to play up.

Depends on the service. If they're promising and all compassing bells and whistles service to "do you SEO for you," is would avoid. But if they're offering somethign more targeted, like "i will build 100 business citation for you" and provide a report on all the palces they're building your business citations, then i think that will be worth it.
