There will be the possibility that your homepage didn't index yet. For resolving that issue you have to analyze your work and need to do some groundwork. First, start doing work for your homepage URL without targeting any keyword. Firstly you have to work only for your main homepage url to get the URL indexed.

Check your homepage robots.txt. Check if there is anything that is noindex, nofollow, noarchieve. After you find do implementation.

Try checking the full URL of homepage including "http://" for example site:http:// www (dot) yoursitedomain (dot) com (Use period instead (dot) and without spaces). If still no result come up then your homepage must not be indexed yet. In case your site is new then that's a common issue as Google may take some time to index all the pages including your homepage.

Things you can do to index your site are-
    • Go to Google's Crawl URL web page and submit a request to crawl them.
    • Enter the complete URL of the site -- including "http://" -- in the field.
    • Submit bulk pinging requests on bulk pinging submissions sites in all versions of Google.
    • Check if you've embedded NOFOLLOW or NOINDEX directives in the Meta tags. If yes then remove them.
    • Robots meta directives look like this:
      • <meta name="robots" content="noindex,noarchive,nofollow,noodp,noydir" >
    • Share your website pages and homepage on social media sites, Google+ most preferred. The more people will click on your webpage that would bring more chances to get cached through it.
    • Repeat the processes until it got indexed.
