Right now, the SERPs seem to be offering way better CTRs for question keywords. Using the new ahrefs keyword tool feature makes it very easy to find the questions.

If Quora answers are appearing in search results for keywords you are targeting, that is a CLEAR indicator that content such as a blog post should rank with some amount of ease.

Posting answers to Quora M A Y provide traffic but needs to be seen as a source of traffic. Quora has NOTHING to do with SEO ( the links are no follow ) so this is NOT a source of "Off-site SEO". Instead it can be seen as a form of an added platform that should be seen as a traffic source.

I agree with your point that Quora gives no follow links. But no follow links have no SEO value is a myth. (link to 2017 outside article deleted by mod)

Also, agreed with your last point that Quora can be a great platform to fetch traffic for a website. Quora is ranking because of UGQ (User Generated Queries). Search engines like Google value users and their queries the most and that's the reason most of the websites like Quora rank on Google when someone searches with a query.

Answer posting is what I do under the umbrella term of Off-page SEO.
It is my day to day job at my workplace.
We call it forum posting here.
It is part of Link building which comes under Off-page SEO.

Answering questions on sites such as Quora is great for these TWO reasons...

    1) They drive direct traffic, If you provide a valuable, in-depth answer to a question you can add a link and offer something to that person and all those reading your answer. Traffic from sites such as Quora can translate to sales and leads... and also sends ranking signals to Google as it will position you as an authority in your niche.

    2) As mentioned in point 1, it builds authority. Providing you have your website added to your Quora (or whichever Q&A site) profile, you can build up your authority. That will drive more traffic but will position you as an expert within your niche / topic. Google will naturally want to send their users to experts related to the "search query".

Overall, it will improve your long-term traffic and link profile.

Yes, I agree with you. Answering questions on a question listing site is very much helpful for SEO. But you need to do it correctly. You need to answer questions related to your business domain. Simply answering any question or posting your website link directly won't help you. Your answer should be unique, related to the question. You can then drive direct traffic, If you provide a valuable, in-depth answer to a question. Traffic from sites such sites can translate to sales and leads which would also send ranking signals to Search Engine.
For me at present Quora is the best platform for answering users' queries.

Yes, answer posting is one way of doing SEO.

Whenever you are posting any question or answer in the discussion forum, then the number of views increases based on the quality and relevancy of your content in it.

More no. of views can help you to generate more leads to your website if you add a relevant backlink of your site in this answer.

Sorry to go against the flow but this sounds like a SEO advice from 2010 ...

Sure those links from question sites and forums will get your website at least some backlinks and visibility when you're just starting out but with each following link have less and less impact, so at some point you will be just wasting your time.

Not to mention that this is impacting your link profile and you are risking to get burned by Google when the next quality update will be rolled out.

Once your website is over a domain pop of 50 you should concentrate on getting quality links from websites that are related to your niche - each of the higher quality links will have more impact on your rankings than probably 50 of these spammy links.

Create killer content, get links naturally and by guest posting on other quality websites - this should be your focus. Slow and steady wins the race.

  • You're 100% correct. That was what help quora and some other site.

In that my opinion we have to engage in Q & A sites on a daily basis. If any user wants to get a backlink on these sites we have to put our Q & A on these sites without adding any link when our account is ready to get a backlink on these sites. It helps to increase our website ranking.

We all are here posting answer to question like I am doing the same. Now if i don't post the link of any website here, then how can i get traffic to my website or back-link for my website. Can any one explain or clear my point ?
    Thanks

  • Unless the site that you are posting the answers to allows you to place a backlink that is dofollow, it will have no effect on your site's ranking. However, Q&A sites are great for driving traffic to your website.
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[11581267].message }}
  • Yes, you're right. But Quora is still a powerful website. The backlinks from Quora are no-follow but it helps to balance out your backlink profile and increase maximum traffic at your site.

I usually take questions I get - or see on forums or other social media - all related to my niche, of course, answer them in that group/forum first, and then post that answer on my social platforms, as well as website for SEO purposes.

I do the same with all my Quora answers (even though it's no-follow - awareness is equally important for me, and not just do-follow links).

I had tough time with Quora. They just delete all the answers which have backlinks to your websites. (unless those links are the high authority sites like Wikipedia. It does not matter if your answer was great but they just delete them.

One of the ways to get high traffic is from question and answer websites. Joining high DA and PR Q&A sites such as quora and answer.yahoo can help you get the best results. Search for questions related to your business, blog, or website and give clear and relevant answers to these questions. By giving a link to your website will help in bringing more visibility and traffic to your website.

You can not say SEO actually of answer posting work because generally answer posting site do not accept or allow links and if allow then use nofollow ....... Ok, nofollow links can be consider by Google or other search engines if came from high DA webstie like quora .... But its also true that from one IP multiple links are valueless.

So answer posting can not considered as SEO. Yes we can say that answer posting is a traffics promotional works ..... You can get attention of people by your answer or question there. So answer posting is Traffics Promotional work and we can not say that its best part of SEO.

I agree with you but never think about the getting link while you are giving an answer. You just give the solution or answer what users want if your answer is correct or solve the issues of users they will definitely contact you or visit your website.

I have seen people rank their content through Quora and promoting their sites in the answers by buying upvotes for Quora (looked shady to me). Also, it is a good way to get to your audience is by solving the answers they are asking and yes Quora can prove to be a great way of getting noticed by millions very easily.

Of course, answering the questions is an important strategy of SEO, but it will be effective only when you give accurate answers. Low quality content will only harm your reputation.
