Hey folks,
Hope you all are doing well.
Let me know, how to reduce spam score or can we totally remove spam score to 0 of a website?
We all SEO professionals already knew that that website whose spam score is high isn't ranking well in the search engine. Bcoz spamming is not the right solution for ranking any website on the search engine organically.
Tell me what steps we can take to reduce the spam score from our website and what are the different ways you can suggest.
Hope I will get the right solution here?
Thanks and regards.

  • All us professionals don't know that "website whose spam score is high isn't ranking well in the search engine" because some of us have pages ranking high even though the website they're on has a high spam score.

Spam score is one of the way MOZ makes money. Has little to do with anything.

I am guessing you did not bother to look at how they determine the spam scores they give.

    You should look into it.

Did you know that amazon.com is likely spammy, as per one of MOZ's spam factors? So yes yelp.com. Short domain names are likely spammy, the rule says.

Some people make many links in only one day, it is also very wrong to do this because spam rates also increase in this way.

  • Put fresh content on your website .

    • Why?

One of the criteria is the length of the url, another one is the presence of favicons, Moz uses a bunch of similar things to come up with their score. Fresh anything is not one of the criteria.

    • Care to explain how MOZ use content to determine the Spam Score?
  • If there are any extreme low-quality backlinks on a website, then the spam score is also raised.

If you want to reduce the spam score of the website, then you need to determine low quality and spammy links that are linked to your website and also disavowed by making a list of such links.

    • Care to explain how MOZ gets access to the disavow list to factor that into the Spam Score?
  • The spam score is mainly generated due to creating relevant backlinks and duplicate content issues. Though the spam score given by MOZ is not significant.

You can also reduce the spam score by optimising your website content. Making sure it is not a keyword-stuffed piece is a top priority. Moreover, you must check that the backlinks are not spam websites. Also, check your website's backlink, if you get any irrelevant links you can collect those links and send a request to Google to DISAVOW those backlinks to increase your trust score.
  • There is only way to reduce spam score by removing spam links and getting quality backlinks. For that disavow spammy links from search console.

    • Should we disavow the broken links of the spammy website? I mean disavowing my website links.

  • Moz.com detects the spam score correctly. the lower the spam score the higher the website rank. The spam score should not be higher than 3%

    • Care to explain how that happens?
MOZ's Spam Score is NOT used by any search engine to rank sites in the search results.
  • I think if we want to reduce the spam score from our website or blog, we first find out the lower quality links and remove that bad kinks from our website and try to put some new fresh content.
