Hello Everyone,

Recently i've been doing a lot of improvements in terms of EEAT, including adding authors to my sites.

In my Rank-Math settings, I have the following options set to "No-index" by default.
  • Author Robots Meta
  • Category Archives Robots Meta

My question is, should I index the above 2 options or leave them no-indexed?

Thank you

Author pages if you are using the avatars elsewhere on the internet - Social media accounts in particular, would be worth indexing.

If you've properly optimized the author pages index them otherwise no.

Author Robots Meta - It has a positive impact on E-A-T, helping to establish the authors' topical authority, which is valuable for SEO.

Category Archives Robots Meta - It all depends on the quality of these archives, if it is bad, it is better not to index them.

Control Over Indexing: If you choose to index author pages, make sure they are well-structured and provide good interlinking to relevant articles and sections of your site. This helps distribute page authority throughout your site and enhances user engagement.

Avoiding Content Bloat: If your site has a large number of authors and the author pages are not significantly different from each other or do not add much value individually, indexing all of them could lead to content bloat. In such cases, selectively indexing only the top authors, or not indexing any at all, might be a better approach.

Question: why index author pages? Will someone be looking for them, is there a large number of requests? Will queries to find the authors of your site give you traffic? If you know that there will be no benefit, remove them from the index, there will be less headaches

It depends on your niche. If you think that author has role in the article then should be index otherwise not.

In general, it is recommended to index author and category pages unless you have a specific reason not to. Indexed author pages can strengthen E-A-T signals, especially if your authors are trustworthy.

It depends on which niche you are working... If its about personal credibility author page should be index for personal influence.

It's generally advisable to use the "no index" tag on author and tag pages, as they often contain duplicate content that can affect the performance of your primary pages. However, if you discover that specific tag or author pages generate valuable traffic, you can consider making an exception for those.

It totally depends upon the structure and optimization of author's page. If it is well and up to date, you may index otherwise no.

Author pages should contain a description that is more detailed than what is provided in the Author Bio at the end of each article. These should be two distinct descriptions.

In that case, there's no need to block Author pages from indexing.

However, if your site has numerous authors and their descriptions are either missing or identical to the Author Bio, I would recommend blocking those Author pages from indexing.

Hey! I'd leave Author and Category Archives set to no-index unless they provide real value.
Author Pages: Index if you have multiple authors with strong EEAT profiles.
Category Archives: Index if they're well-organized and useful for users.
Otherwise, keeping them no-indexed avoids thin content and focuses on more valuable pages.
