Gaining back links through dofollow blog comments..?

So I've been hard at work on building some back links to my first few sights and one of the methods I've been using is dofollow blog posting. My question is:

Does the anchor text matter for these links?

I'm pretty new to all this and I have found that if I insert my link into the actual post it tends to get deleted, no mater how good the content of my post is...

but if I just insert the url to my site so it links from my name on the post the post stays.

Is it worth back linking this way when the anchor text has nothing to do with my keywords or should I be doing something differently? Any help would be great.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, anchor text matters most on low quality links like blog comments. Find blogs that are friendlier towards SEOers and allow you to use keywords as your name. I find that as a courtesy, sign you comment with your real name at the bottom.

Oh, and remember: "great post" type comments are pointless. Make your comments valuable to the blog.

      Thanks for the quick reply,

That was exactly what I was looking for, I'll try to find some more SEOer friendly forums. I absolutely do not post crap comments either, I read the article I'm posting on (usually just takes a minute or so) and provide quality feedback for the person. Guess I'll have to play around with it some more

ya, you definitely want webmaster friendly blog owners. Anchor text matters, and I would not post on one that would not let you use it. There are many dofollow webmaster friendly blogs out there, the trick is finding them!

I agree 95% with this, but, I would still post a dofollow blog comment if I couldn't use anchor text, or if I felt I had to use a standard name because a keyword rich name would get flagged, in the following 2 circumstances:

      (1) dofollow .edu or .gov blog
      (2) dofollow blog page PR (not domain, but the actual blog post page) of PR5+.

Anchor text is certainly important. I have found that the more time I spend creating a quality comment, the more likely it is that I'll be allowed to use anchor text instead of a name. Of course, this makes perfect sense and I do the same thing on my blog.

It's going to take a ton of these types of blog comments to build up PR and SERPS, but they tend to gain value over time as the blog posts ages into the blogs archives.

Following the principle of link diversity, it would be prudent to get a link from a diverse set of dofollow blogs, even if you are unable to use an anchor text of your choosing. Not every link pointing to your site needs to be your anchor text.

I agree with everyone!! It definitely matters and you do need to enter a decent comment. I've found some nice PR6-7 blog posts that have moderation so aren't spammed to hell. They aren't in a subject I'm, familiar with but it only takes a minute or 2 to put something pertinent that gets approved a day or so down the line.
