A Quick Question About Backlinks??????

Hi

I am launching a new business online on monday and i will be using PPC to promote it. In the background i intend to start link building for specific keywords. If i want to gain natural ranking through banklinks in a geo specific Google page such as .ie for ireland and .co.uk for northen ireland would i have to have matching domain registrations - for example www.blablabla.co.uk / www.blablabla.ie? The reason why i ask is because on google.ie the high ranking sites on .co.uk and .com are not displayed!

If you are geo-targeting use the correct domain ending.

What if the .ie domain name is pointing to the same site as a .co.uk domain name - will this method have the desired effect or will google not like this?

  no the redirect will have no effect, the .co.uk will be the only indexed name - if the business is strictly for irish use then I would suggest a .ie domain and irish hosting for the best possible results.

is there anyway around this as i have noticed sites with both domain names and showing in organic listings on both .ie and .co.uk

Proper domain and hosting are going to help you a lot. If you select domain where you want to sell, you will get more responses rather than other countries.

You can also officially declare your site's geo-location to Google in Webmaster tools. But yeah, the safe bet is to go with the appropriate extension.
