Hey everyone. I'm exploring various free blogging/article platforms to compliment my backlink/traffic building campaigns and I am looking for opinions on Google Knol.

Has it been effective at driving traffic to your site/blog? Are backlinks from the site similar in value to hubpages/squidoo?

Basically anything you guys can tell me about Knol would be great.

Thanks in advance,

Jacob

I created a few knols back when Google released the beta. A few were in the IM niche, a few in 'other' niches. None of them drove any traffic to speak of, and I did not find any of the backlinks showing up in WMT.

I built a few knols for one of my blogs, and they show up as backlinks, but I never had any traffic from it. Not building them anymore. I'd rather have backlinks AND traffic if I spent the time writing something

That's what I was aiming to figure out. With Hubpages and Squidoo I get some decent backlinks and always have some clickthroughs also. Just trying to expand on those a bit.

I've never had any success with blogspot or wordpress.com. I'm going to try out LiveJournal and Typepad also. We'll see how it goes.

      Thanks for your input guys.

Knol goes under the radar, but is not bad. Only
problem is the nofollow links. But, you do get the
power of google, and, they are now removing
some nofollow tags on trusted authors. It's not
something I would start out doing, however.
I would concentrate on other things first, get
those down, then look for others such as knol.
I'd certainly do squidoo first and get that down.

no, google knol uses "do follow" ... it's a great site to create anchor backlinks...
