Local City SEO services

How many here provide SEO ranking services for local business in their area?

It is very easy to rank for [city]+[keyword] and [suburb]+[keyword] rather than trying to win first page for 'weight loss'

I got over 80 doorway pages ranked #1 for 1 clients website with only a few backlinks each page. And the content is all duplicated apart from the keyword, title tag changes e.t.c

The idea I have is to charge each client $300-$400 per month for a constant ongoing backlink service.

Get 30-40 of these clients and its easy street.

Now what industries or niches do you guys suggest for city+keyword type searchers?
For example some business niches will not work because their potential search volume will only be by broad keyword, compared to say someone looking for a plumber, who will use the city and suburb prefix.

city+plumber
city+chiropractor
city+movers
city+dog training school

e.t.c

Any ideas for more?

We provide that service for clients across the country. I'm not going to give away my most profitable niches... but I will say this. The best clients are the one who are spending money on AdWords but they are not on the map. Once I start getting them as much traffic from their top of the map listing as they get from AdWords, their generally very grateful. An once you master a certain niche, say plumbers... you'll have an easier time duplicating your success with another plumber in another city. I never accept more than one client in a particular field, within a 20 or 30 mile radius or more depending on the type of business.

Rebel, when you say getting someone to the top of the 'map' are you talking first place serp or literally google maps?

What i notice is that google placements has destroyed the value of organic first position due to the map being 2/3 the size of the screen.

Im not sure how Google maps fits into the SEO side of things.

I am working on this concept at the moment and I don't think it will be that easy. You might want to check out GoGetta's WSO which has a list of niches that you can look into.

I work with local businesses across the country. It's relatively easy to rank the smaller businesses. Law firms though. Oi ve. I'd rather do 100 local plumber websites than an attorney in a big city. I'm still learning, so competing with more experienced SEO is a challenge.

I never thought about this and it is a good idea if you think about it, its very hard to get top in your keyword, but city + keyword is very smart, its probably local to the customer making it easier for them, and its easier to get up higher in the rankings, good post

I think its a good way to earn some quick bucks. But In case of India, People still prefer to hunt local service through some other media rather than internet. If internet service goes popular in our country definitely we earn lots of money from that.

Who says you have to do your country? There are hundreds of countries out there. Except for America. I have dibs.

@Yohan You've got a really good point. Plus, what legit business can't afford 300 - 400 a month for SEO services?

Here are a few ideas that work in any almost any city. Think of services w/ business owners that have money:

    - lawyers
    - doctors
    - dentists
    - cosmetic/plastic surgeons
    - consultants
    - architects

I also agree that ranking with city name is much better than the main keywords as users have tendency to search with keyword + city.
