it's very important but make sure you domain still also very short possible.
eg: I've a website in forex when I searched for domain name I didn't find any good one for me, so what I did is to take 2 keywords "forex+brokers" = forexbrs.com
you see, here's a domain very short possible with keywords to tell people from the first time, what is this is about!

I respectfully disagree with the above post. if you want to rank well for a keyword and you can get the exact match in a .com .net or .org domain buy it because this is the first step in getting a page 1 ranking. This is very powerful stuff to get an exact match domain.

i disagree with the above post beacuse i sometimes have to buy a long doain to get the exact match like 5 words for example and i still rank on page 1.

also if the above post was talking about the searcher being turned off from a long domain, if your domain is exact match then google will highlight your domain in the organic search aking it ore visable.

plus if i search "how to get healthy" and i see howtogethealthy.com i am going to click on that because its relevant.

      hope this helps

Yes keyword in domain is really important especially for micro niche sites. In most cases once the website is indexed it can usually rank at least on page 2 before any backlink building takes place. I don't think it's important to have a short domain name if you are relying more on search engine traffic.
