Hello. I have noticed that people spamming my blogs are linking to their sitemap with keyword anchor texts. Is that a good strategy, worth to implement? I mean, linking to mysite.com/sitemap.xml, not spamming blogs

Thanks

Not really a common strategy today. Since sitemaps are typically created for search engines, don't bother building up link equity there. Spend the time on pages you think deserve to rank high in the SERPs.

Thanks a ton. That's what I was thinking but as I see people doing it I thought it should be done.

Note: days ago I got a response by Gauher Chaudry and now from Brad Callen. Who's next: Rich Schefren?

actually - it doesn't matter either way - but I've always done backlinking to my index page.
