Interlinking Web Sites

Hi Warriors,

I'm planning on build several minisites and I know the stance on interlinking with Google is that if sites are relevant then it's fine but you could de-indexed across the board if you link back to 100s of irrelevant sites in your footer/sidebar.

However a video from the official google dude mentioned corporate/umbrella companies, so would it be alright to have some like this on the page footer?

Rough Outline Umbrella Company
coffee beans - jeans - ezines - spleens

All related and relevant due to the same umbrella company, anyone have experience of this?

Thanks,
Matt

While it could be seen as relevant in the eyes of the user, I'm not sure that the search engine will see it as relevant. Why? Because it can't actually understand what you're saying on your website, it can only algorithmically analyze text. So it will see "coffee" "jeans" and "ezines" and notice that they aren't related topics and make its conclusion based on that information. I hope that this helps.

      Thanks for the response.

Just wanted to clarify the information, I'll stick to linking relevant sites only.
