  • On-page SEO is creating relevant content on your site in line with the theme of your site. If your site is targeting the golf niche, the articles on your site will be related to golf. The content will be rich in keywords, h1 and h2 tag titles and proper structure in order to make the search engines consider your site relevant for search ranking.

Off-page SEO are those things you do externally in order to influence how the search engines regard your site. Off-page SEO is creating a link between your web pages and other web pages on the internet. The tactics for off-page SEO are backlink building through blog commenting, forum profile signatures, direct linking with approriate anchor texts from other sites (especially with high pagerank pages and dofollow), etc.

You can avoid getting sandboxed if you are not building too many backlinks to a new domain. In most cases new domains do not enjoy favorable consideration from the search engines and any rapid increase in backlinks to them often raise alarm and make them to be considered as spam sites.

What happens is, google applies a filter (sandbox filter) to the domain. The filter lasts for anywhere between 6 months to 1 year. A good tactic that has always worked for me concerning a sandboxed domain is to sandbox your domain with tons of links, build quality links for the next couple of months and just leave it like that and don’t build anymore links to it. Your domain should come out of the sandbox very quick (about 3-4 months)

    Here are some strategies I reccomend for both on-page and off-page optimization;

    • Website analysis (site navigability, usability and visibility)
    • Keyword research analysis (Primary keywords, Secondary keywords, Determine Keyword Effectiveness Index (KEI)
    • On-page optimization (Title tags implementation, Alt tags implementation, Desc tags implementation, Anchor text analysis, keyword density, keyword prominence, etc )
    • Submitting to ODP, Yahoo directory, second tier-directories, Industry specific directories, Local and FYP directories.
    • Focusing on acquiring one way links and also reciprocal links with sites of higher PR (the link exchange campaign)
    • Paid and free listing (One way links)
    • Article submission and press releases (Writing original and quality articles for submission)
    • Blog creation and posting.
    • Participation in forums and other web 2.0 social networking sites
SEO monitoring and tracking (Conversion tracking and measuring ROI)

Some of the tools I use to make my work easier in terms of working effectively and providing timely reports (including daily reporting) are Google Keyword tool, Analytics software, Keyword elite, Web CEO, SEO Elite, Market Samurai among others

Also, keep it low with pictures on the site, Google cant read them anyway and see's it as clutter, it wants new fresh original unique content and lots of it. Try finding a good article writer who writes quality articles for your niche.

Yukon is right. Search engines can read alt-texts. That's the reason why an alt-text can be integrated to images.

Making quality content, put the right meta tags, add the alt tags, header tags, add the footer links, set the link form structure these are on -page optimization.
and all promotion techniques are off-page optimization.

First of all select keywords by using keyword tools. Do onpage optimization of every webpage. After that start offpage submission.

These activities helps your site rank well in search engines.

Just get tons of content and make sure to sculpt your page rank effectively so that link juice flows through your site without friction.

If you make a site about pool cleaning chemicals, it would be unwise to name that section of the site chemicals.

Instead, name it pool cleaning chemicals so it has a much better chance to rank for that term.

Then, any time you mention the term on your site, make the term an anchor text link for that keyword pointing to that section of your site. This signals Google with your own link juice that it is relevant for that keyword.

It provides a good insite linking structure that guides the search engines once you start to develop a site that has authority and relevance.

Just remember, your most valuable links of all come from your own site.
