Looking for advice on generating traffic

Hey everyone,

I'm launching a site in about a week and am looking for any suggestions for how to generate traffic.

I've used Yahoo/MSN PPC in the past but found traffic numbers to be unbelievably low with a bad conversion rate.

I've used Adwords in the past but have found it difficult to balance CPC with the number of clicks per day. If I lowered the CPC I'd drop in number and get way less traffic. If I raised the CPC I'd raise in number and get decent traffic but basically break even.

I'm not really opposed to spending some money on content outsourcing (as writing takes forever for me) after making some money with PPC or social media or whatever, but don't know what to expect for results.

Any input on traffic generation would be greatly appreciated!

If you've got a track record for success with traffic generation, I'd DEFINITELY be interested in working with you and splitting profits! The site is pretty high quality and obviously I'd give you the link once we started chatting

      Thanks for the info! Do you have any approximations on traffic per article? I figure you'd probably need a lot of articles for it to be successful since most won't get much traffic

    Social bookmarking sites can also help in generating traffic. like stumbleupon.... get as much followers u can and post ur website there and get traffic. every once a month or a week update ur website and again share with ur follows and get traffic....

      Can you list some of the social bookmarking sites I should focus on?

      I'm aware of:
      Stumbleupon, digg, reddit

      There are tons I'm sure but I doubt all of them are worth it

    Generating desired amount of traffic requires the right skills, strategies and methods as well as patience and some investment. Given that you already tried Yahoo/MSN PPC in the past, maybe you should seek the help pf a professional. But then again, do not stop learning the ropes of generating traffic within a desired time frame. Continue to learn and never cease to take advantage of social networking sites as well as micro blogging sites because these sites are home to millions of online users.

    Prepare articles and submit it on article submission directories, and submit your link in directories

    heres a to do list:

    article marketing (rewrite your good articles a couple of times)
    video marketing
    blog commenting
    guest post on a blog
    build backlinks
    put more content on your site
    make sure your pictures are optimized on your site
    make a twitter, facebook, and myspace page

    this should keep you busy for a while

      Yes, you can try social media like generating traffic through Facebook and Twitter. Also, you can do seo (link building) like articles and submit it on article submission directories, blogging, social bookmarking and forums.
