Decent Search, High CPC but no advertiser on SERP, why?

I am thinking this is a NO for adsense monetization but I'd like to have your opinions and experiences.

Also I am wondering why is the CPC so high if noone is bidding for that keyword?

Finally how would you go about deciding if the keyword can be monetized through another stream?

Thanks,
Sandrine

I know what you're saying, sometimes the PPC ads don't show anything. This is deceptive because people are bidding on them. Sometimes I think it's a browser thing, firefox has issues, or a "local" results thing that Google keeps pushing. Maybe they have no bidders in your geo area. What ever it is people are bidding.

"Keyword Spy" and "Spyfu" are great for really getting to the core of exactly whats going on with certain keywords and bidders. They are a little pricey, sometimes you can get a free trial or a 1 day pass.

Thanks Vincenzo, that would make sense. upon reading you response I went to the google adword click estimator and there seems to be from low to moderate clicks per day, but due to high CPC decent earnings for a small adsense sites.

I will investigate further by using a proxy search and see what happens.
    Thanks, very helpful.

Depending on your settings the ads may just not be showing for you. You may have also installed an ad blocker which may be blocking those ads but it should be doing that for all keywords. You can also try other search engines and see if they have any advertisers.
