Online Classifieds... Are they worth it?

Hi everyone.

I was just wondering, with everyone talking about backlinks etc. What merit would online classified ads have? They won't be good for backlinking I know, but could it help give a site a boost?

    They are worth it if done properly, smartly, wisely.

    And I think there's a section for classified ads in this forum.

    Every business growth is subject to advertisement and promotions no matter how insignificant but that doesn't mean that you should be throwing money around.

      Thank you so much for the info dave and king shiloh. I really appreciate it. I will take a look. At least it could help boost the site's popularity. I was looking into banner placements and found a few classified listings and thought I would take a look. Most of the ones I looked at weren't that expensive either so it might be worth upgrading at some point.

    They do work but you need to make your ad sound really good and stand out. Simple ads don't work anymore.

      They can work for backlinking purposes. Just make sure you create ads that aren't spammy and of course within the TOS of the classifieds site on which you are posting.

      Once your ad is listed, create some backlinks to it as well to give it a little more juice and boost the value that the it provides your site/offer.

    The only one that still works for me (for traffic) is Free Classifieds - USFreeads . I use it for keywords that don't have a competing title page, much faster than writing a full article.

      I have been working through a few that were on the posted list. Needless to say my inbox was flooded, but a few of the emails I received turned out to be quite useful. Article prince, I will take a look at the site you recommended as well.

      Amy, I can believe that. Ive tried to steer clear of generic sounding adverts as well... I think I will have writing skills that rival Shakespeare by the time I'm done. Thank you all for your help.

      Of course online classifieds are worth it, but there are metrics used to take effect of your site to drive traffic .Here are the various classified services popularity of site in your market
      • relevance of users in your market
      • how to quickly can listings be posted
      • also your site must have backlinks.
      • Your ads always work best when integrated with relevant content.
      So posting classified ads can drive traffic to your website and traffics helps to improve ranking.

        I can understand that. Something else I wanted to ask was, what else can you do to boost ranking? I am marketing a site at the moment and I am trying to focus on organic results. I am also looking at directory submission and SE submissions, article writing, blogs etc when the new site is launched. What else can a newbie marketer like me use to gain rankings? I've also looked at banner ads and now recently the classifieds....

            I have optimized the content to show keywords in the headings, and also placed them in the middle and end of the text on each page. I have optimized the meta data, added descriptions to images using alt text, and I have made the links easy to read as well as adding a keyword or two relevant to my niche. I have been careful not to overdo it as well.

              Your on-page should be good then. All you need to do is start backlinking on a regular basis. Blog posts/comments, article directories, forum profiles, forum sigs, web 2.0s, Press Releases....

    Definitely,it worth.........Classified Ads are basically online ads which are placed on Classified Resources. It works the same way as you give advertisement in any other media like: Newspapers, Magazines, Radio, and Television etc.
