Backlinking Strategy and a Visual Aid
- SEO |
Putting this together was an easier way for me to think about exactly what I was doing and wanted to do in the future. I decided to go ahead and post it on here for two reasons. First, since I am fairly new to this, I look at this forum as a good place to get input on strategies I am implementing or considering implementing. Second, I wanted to make this visual aid available to anyone else who wants help focusing their backlinking strategies.
Here's an explanation of what I'm planning to do and what you can do too:
Obviously the big oval in the middle is my main landing page on my money site. This is the site that I want the most traffic and also expect to earn the most money. This is the most important page of the site and the keyword research done for this page should meet your qualifications for competition and potential earnings.
The smaller green circles represent other pages/posts on my money site. I will have more than the 4 articles on my sites, but plan to choose 4 pages on each site to be a part of my main backlinking efforts along with the main money page. These 4 pages will be focused on keywords that are related to the money page but different enough to attract different searchers. It is important to do the proper keyword research on these just as you would the main keyword though with less strict potential earning qualifications since they are only supplementary to your main keyword.
The biggest part of the first tier of my backlinking efforts will be about 6 article directories.
I will also use Squidoo and HubPages. These two are shown with reciprocal links in my diagram and I did that intentionally. I realize reciprocal links are generally not valued as high as one way links, but I am not too concerned with that in that part of the open link wheel being created here. I think it will add a small amount of juice and even if reciprocal links aren't worth anything, I doubt it's going to take anything away either so I think it's worth putting in there.
I will also be using a couple of free blog sites to add to my linking strategy so it is not all coming from article directories - gotta mix it up a bit.
Finally, I also eventually plan to start a handful of autoblogs. I will have original content on these as well, and will create posts these that link back to my niche sites. I know some people may not want to do this, and if this is the case, these sites can be replaced by either additional article directories, Web 2.0 Properties, or blogs. That is what I will be doing until I get to a point where I am actually ready to delve into autoblogging.
That completes the first tier. This might actually be enough in some niches to get decent rankings. However, I plan to go through with Article Marketing Robot and submit articles linking to each of the 19 pages in this diagram. If you choose a niche with low enough competition you could probably start making a small amount of income with just the links from the first tier - it's just a matter of doing research. But with the extra backlinks from AMR, I think this will work in harder niches as well.
It will be a bit of work to implement this but it should be much more effective than my unfocused way of doing it before. I think this strategy will give quite a bit of link juice to both the main money page and the secondary money pages on the site(which will also pass link juice to the other pages of the site to help with longtail traffic).
If you find this useful, don't shy away from the "thanks" button! And leave comments. I want to know if you found it useful or if you have any input!
