A page has PR4 with just 3 backlinks :O

I was skimming through some pages and I landed on one and SEO Quake said it has PR4. Quite impressive for a page of a not so famous website and then I thought it must be having hundreds or even thousands of backlinks but when I looked it up, I found only 3 (PR 1, 5 and n/a). The only other impressive part of the page was the age which was 9. The age factor is confusing as I don't know if its the age of the page or the entire website.

I know the PR has nothing to do with SEO and rankings don't get affected by it but this thing shocked me.

    You can't see all the backlinks because they may have backlinks linking to their backlinks and not directly to their site.

    yes, you can't see all the backlinks. but i'm sure you'd see more backlinks if you were using google webmaster tools and since you're not the owner, you can't see that. plus age also counts ....

      No secret. Common to have high PR with a few well-placed,
      high PR backlinks. I keep telling people it's quality, not quantity.

      But you are mistaken. PR does have something to do with SEO
      and rankings. Why do you think google has it?

    Download the free version of SEO Spy Glass and that should show you more backlinks

    I know I can never see all the backlinks and I did use SEO Spy Glass as well to detect the backlinks. Its giving the same 3 links. Even the backlinks which are not being counted can't be in a very high number either. As far as I know, the methods for backlink checking give back 85% of all the backlinks.

    I didn't try Google webmaster though.

    I also checked the backlinks of the backlinks even they are not high.

    I think its just the age that's making the difference.
