Link building strategy...

Hi guys,

What i did was:

1. i made blogs 4 blogs (2 on wp and 2 on blogger)
2. post articles (the articles i made span from 600 to +2,000 words) that i already posted on my site first and then
3. i put 2 links on each articles; one goes to my pre-sell page and the other links to the original article. so obviously both links go to my wp website.

both have been working fine for 2 weeks. until i read about nofollow/dofollow. so far the articles (by default i guess) uses nofollow for those links. and then i changed them to dofollow. guess what? g00gle deleted my blogger account 10 minutes after marking my 2 blogs as spam blog. the wp ones are fine.

Now, the recent development (for my website, that is) is when i use dofollow on my wordpress i get a warning that says "your blog xxxx is no longer exist" or something along that line. i quickly change the dofollow back to nofollow. i was still logged in when i tried to search for my blog on wp's blog search. guess what...my blog came back.

so my questions to you guys are:

1. what is the impact of making links into dofollow? will g00gle downgrade my website (PR wise; even though my website is fairly new)?
2. what do you guys do in your link building effort (do you use dofollow or nofollow)?
3. what elements to consider when choosing between nofollow and dofollow?
4. i don't really understand the situation but is dofollow really that bad?

i really hope to hear from you guys

Hi alphaxyz! This sounds a bit strange to me... That blogger deletes your blog for using dofollow links.. this is news to me. I have a few blogger blogs myself and I definitly use dofollow(?) on them. Wordpress.com on the other hand seems to be a very suspicious lot, I have also had some trouble with them, like freezing my blogs if I post too often and such... But I do use both of these platforms but as a suggestion to you I also use squidoo, hubpages, blog.com, zoho, bravenet and a few others. Do a search for "free blog platform" in the big G and you'll see a few options. Just make sure you read their terms before you start posting

Hope I could help in some way

I do not think you have actually figured out the real problem. Whether it is do follow or no follow - they really have nothing so serious that both your blogs will go down on two different platforms. That's really crazy. It must be some other kind of violation - than tagging - which is pretty serious. Your search or observation is rightly not on correct track, keep digging.

i don't have freezing problem with wp yet because i haven't published that many articles on wp.

i guess... i'm not really sure either. the thing is both platforms (and my blogs in them) were ok for more than two weeks. the problem happened right after i change from nofollow to dofollow. thus, my assumption.

it is crazy. i actually have 9 blogs on bloggers but the remaining 7 don't have anything on them yet. i lost all 9 of them because of the change i made on the 2. on the 2 blogs i had several +600 words articles and two +2,500 words articles posted. so i didn't do anything spammy or anything that had the potential of breaking blogger's TOS... of course, i will keep digging but now i am scared of putting dofollow link

      any other advise/experience?

Mine blogger account was also deleted because I used it to link to my main site.

Google will delete your blogspot if you use it just to get backlink and don't post any good or new posts.

And about the link. Let it be nofollow. Becase even if it is nofollow it will help you in Bing and Yahoo. A lot of peoples optimise only for Google so it's easy to optimise for bing and yahoo.

So let such links be nofollow and try to get natural backlinks by building quality contents.

Dofollow links leak PR juice from your site. So yea we can say a little degradation from Google but that is not a big issue if the link count is reasonable.
what do you guys do in your link building effort (do you use dofollow or nofollow)?
Yea I put my efforts to create dofollow links only.

what elements to consider when choosing between nofollow and dofollow?
I concentrate in creating dofollow links only but that does n't means I completely avoid nofollow links.
i don't really understand the situation but is dofollow really that bad?

Dofollow links are not bad unless you link to a bad neighborhood.
