What to do with PLR since last Google Update

I was looking through my virtual shelves recently and noticed that I have acquired quite a large collection of PLR articles. I mean, I just roughly counted and I have got over 100,000 articles sitting here.

I sure would like to be able to put them to work for me somehow. I am looking for something I can do without much investment and without spending much time doing it.

I know that just a little while ago you could throw up a bunch of blogspot blogs or many subdomains to create different sites. Then throw up a bunch of PLR without much editing and get a little promotion to it to get some adsense or affiliate income.

Does anyone know if this method still work?

Or are there any other ways to get these articles making money for me?

Thanks for any ideas you have.

Jon

I guess it all depends. We know that if the content is already published elsewhere then it's probably not going to rank so well. I always either rewrite the content in its entirety or I will at least rewrite the first and last paragraph. This seems to make it unique enough.

Spin 'em. Load 'em. Rank 'em.!

    Long version:
Spin the articles that you have and load them in a tool like Senuke to create Web 2.0 properties. Rank those pages, and get instant (almost) high authority backlinks. You could also go the manual way.

Use them in ways that don't get into the search rankings and you won't have to do much, if anything, to change them.
      • Use in a autoresponder series
      • combine to make a short report to post on doc sharing sites
      • create a slideshow
      • create a video
      • combine to make a larger report or product
      • use as bonuses to your existing products or an affiliate offer
And of course, there are more ways but this should give you some ideas.

        Tina,

I like the video and doc share sites. May have to take a look at those.

        Thanks

Yeah that sounds great. If I had SENuke I would probably have already dont it.

Since, I don't really want to spend the time to manually build and rank web 2.0 pages that don't even belong to me.

        Hmm...

If you should consider my advice, you can partner with someone who has SENuke.

You can get ideas for niches and use the plr as basis for your research. If you go through your PLR, you'll probably find niches you haven't thought of.

Throwing up PLR "as is" on a blog is like throwing mud at the wall. Some will stick but a lot will slide right on off.

You would have to go on volume setting up a lot of micro sites to make any decent money with that strategy. And those are the type of thin sites Google likes to zap.

Ok, you probably won't like to hear this..but my recommendation is to just write them off. Sunk cost. I am just not a big believer in plr for articles and content, google doesn't like it, you might as well just create new original content that google will rather like instead.

Of course, as suggested - you could repurpose those articles into AR posts, etc..but be very careful with the quality of the content - if it is low, your revenue per subscriber will go down

      Hope this helps

That's not accurate. Google loves content. They don't know what PLR is to "hate it". PLR is a great way to add content as long as it's re-written and re-purposed into videos, podcasts, etc. Don't write off PLR. Big mistake. To say Google "doesn't like it" as in PLR is silly.

If you combine some original text with the plr, or even combine several articles or cut and paste them together in new combinations, then you will be presenting a completely new page.

Also, try to target different keywords from everyone else by editing the new keywords into the PLR. This way, when Google is preparing the list of pages to show in the SERPs, your plr page will be the only one with that same content.

As an example, say the original plr article is about "coffee plantation". You could change it to target "coffee growing" or "single source coffee beans".

Create an online PLR database maybe? Access in exchange for optins or cash?

I wonder if there is room for one more PLR membership site.

Maybe something like a new (not rewritten) report each month along with a certain number of fresh and new articles each month.

Access to a database of 100,000 plus articles

Wonder if there would be any buyers for this at like $10 a month of something similar.

I think many people in the business would rather pay a small price for something if it means they won't have to do all the work themselves.

How good is the PLR you've got? Answering that question honestly will go a long way towards figuring out what to do with all of it.

Unfortunately, plenty of people find tons of PLR on their computers, only to discover that it's garbage that they can't do anything with. However, if you've got good PLR, there is alot you can do with it (as Tina and Alan have so wisely pointed out).

Take an honest look at what you've got. Is it good enough to send out to your list as-is? Does it have enough facts to use as a basis for a video or podcast? Would you be able to combine it and create an ebook out of it? Is there enough research in it to rewrite it and turn it into a blog or use it for article marketing purposes? If you've got good PLR, there are countless things you can do with it.

Think offline. There is a huge untapped goldmine in direct mail for short reports and articles. Sell them for $3 per article or up to $10 for reports. Just advertise in trade journals, magazines, regional newspapers, advertisers, etc and print them on demand using a good printer as your orders come in. Mailorder is still a much larger market than online sales by far.

There's a lot of possible use for the PLR you have, plus PLR you don't have. The trick with PLR is to rewrite it so that it's not the exact same thing. Then you can use it for lots of things, offline and online....

autoresponders, blog or website content, newsletters and ezines, magazines, webinars, reports and ebooks, membership sites, Kindle ebooks, videos...

    Lots of ideas!
