    Hi ebizman,

One isn't necessarily better than the other, it all depends on the individual attributes of the particular domain. Domain age isn't really of particular value, it is the age of the indexed URL/content within the search engine database that adds Trust value for your web page. Domain age is of little consequence outside the scope of indexed content age.

I think people tend to look at domain age because that is an easier to obtain metric, though highly unreliable.

If you go for EMD (Exact Match Domain), you should make sure the search count is really high. Most of the time, people targetting EMD sites are looking for building small sites because it targets ONE keyword, usually.

If you go for aged domains, you will want to create a big site cause the authority, PR of the aged domain will rank your individual articles faster. In other words, the inner (or individual) pages will rank faster and easier (with less backlinks). Still, with a big site, it takes time.
