It all depends on the sort of links you've sent to? Were they all profile links etc?

What sort of content do you have on the site?

I think it has a good link base, and the content is super good, about 15 pages of 500 word articles, written very well.

But each page links out to the affiliate link. Maybe G saw that?

some of my affiliate sites have divebombed where others have retained their ranking. try as i might, i cannot establish an understanding of why this has happened - the way i work doesn't change and i try to keep a content : ad ratio quite subtle.

Are your CB affiliate links cloaked? If not, this will hurt your rankings. I always buy .info domains and redirect the .info link to my CB affiliate links.

No not cloaked, bare-skin.

Does that info trick really work? Dont they notice?

Also, most importantly, if I remove teh links can I get my ranking back?

I decided some time ago (from testing) that this is due to one of Google's primary tactics - they are deliberately inconsistent in order to keep people guessing and stop them from establishing definites regarding their algorithm. Makes sense if you think about it...

I have personally tested this, and it made a big difference.

I noticed a big change in traffic when I cloaked my clickbank affiliate links that were on my Squidoo lenses. Squidoo was the first page I ever setup 2.5 years ago, and I didn't know how to cloak the links back at that time. Later I went back and cloaked the affiliate links, and that improved my search engine rankings and traffic.

I believe Google's search engine algorithms are specifically designed to penalize sites with affiliate links. Google's bots can't tell they are affiliate links if you have URLs that are redirected to affiliate links.

I think you will get your rankings back if you cloak your affiliate links. No one can say this 100% certainty, but I think you will get your rankings back if you get rid of the affiliate links.

What's your bounce rate like?

What I do with my affiliate sites is have pages which do NOT have any affiliate links on them. So something like 10 pages which promote a product with affiliate links & another 10 pages of unique content relating to the topic of your site.

This will make your site look like a good information source & not just a thin affiliate site.

I would add some good fresh content & continue will GOOD QUALITY link building.

Ensure you do some good internal linking too.

  There's certainly also a large number of threads here, from the last 2/3 months or so, in which many article marketers report how good for our businesses the Panda update appears to have been (I remember posting in many of them, myself).
  
  The removal of so many article directories from the front pages of Google's SERP's certainly seems to have made it much easier for us to get our own sites ranked highly, with high-quality, context-relevant backlinks attracted naturally through article syndication.
  
  Now, even more than ever before, our SEO success is determined by quality and relevance, rather than by quantitative approaches and non-context-relevant, PR-0 article directory backlinks.

I've removed all the clickbank links. I actually prefer to produce my own products. And if I do decide to do affiliate offers, maybe I will do it via email marketing after giving the visitors something.

Alexa, do you really need the lingerie pic on here?

i think you dont must remove them , its better to cloack them , and you can use budurl.com to cloack and even when the visitor go to clickbank site - the adres nt changed - so it is very good also to preven google to know that it is affilate links.

I'm really not sure if affiliate links are going to effect rankings. I have had many pages triple in traffic with more than 10 links on every page that go to affiliate products since the update. There are so many variables that it's hard to place the blame on this one thing. Also many competitive terms still offer affiliate products and have awesome rankings.

Google is just one way to drive traffic to ones website and offers... And for some people, it is not the most important way...
