Last night I noticed my biggest money making site just disappeared from the Google rankings. It's still indexed but its gone from the SERPs. None of the pages rank in the top 1000 and thats after having over 200 1st page rankings on good search count keywords.

I was inches away from being a full time IM and this really took a big chunk of earnings away. Its very frustrating because I have no idea why this happened. I would feel much better if I new what not to do but I basically follow the same plan for all my sites and all the rest are doing just fine.

Was my site perfect? No, but it was all original content. Offered decent quality, I mean at least deserving to be in the search engine rankings. This is a sad day for me and a day I realize the true nature of this business.

What about the backlinks pointing to your site? Anything risky or fishy going on there that could've contributed to the drop?

I wouldn't worry so much at this point. Give it a week or so and see where you stand. Somestimes sites drop out of nowhere and dance their way back up to where they were before (or sometimes even higher).

Well, one cannot judge their site as "deserving to be in the search engine rankings."

    Everybody here says that.

You forget about the other people, their sites, and the fact that the internet is
    not static, but dynamic.

Your best bet is to continue doing good things, but concentrate on traffic
    from other sources.

I recently started using BMR which was doing a great job. Id say that might be it but all my other sites seem to be ok and ive been using it on them also. I also haven't heard of anyone else experiencing this from BMR so I don't want to jump to stupid conclusions.

Now I don't claim to be a saint when it comes to backlinking but jesus my site's backlink portfolio looks like beverly hills compared to most of my competitions never ending blog comment spam and Xrumer blasts.

Oh wait good news I found a few of my pages buried in the 800's. Well thats an improvement from this morning.

I am not saying that backlinks can not play a role in this but unless your site is rather new and you used a lot of xrumer runs etc to rank it this is a less likely scenario. Based on what you say a on page factor is a lot more likely.

A couple of things to check that I have seen cause this in the past.

        1. Are you redirecting your IP/account adress to your domain name. Are you redirecting none www to www. Are you using 301 redirects for these redirects?
If not this can be a question. Especially if someone linked to your IP/account adress instead of your domain and you get two versions indexed it can wreck havoc with your rankings. If any of these is the issue you can likely regain your serp within days by fixing it. Please noticed that just because you dont redirct doesnt necessarily mean that this is the problem in google.

        2. Do you have any broken links on your websites. Google have started to be a lot more hard on dead links on less established sites than they one where.

        3. Do you have anywhere on the site where spam could have been posted

I agree I don't think backlinks are the culprit. Ive seen backlinking penalties first hand and they are not this sweeping and usually deal with the individual page not the whole website. I do have some articles I got from article ranks blog network on my page. I only took quality articles that were directly related to my page. This is the only thing I can think of. Im going to let this sit for a few days see if things go back to normal if not I'll clean the page of any possible articles that may be perceived as duplicate content. In my opinion though I don't know why me posting an article that is of decent quality and completely related to my niche should be grounds for banishment just because other sites have the same article.

We'll see, I don't hold out much hope for a rebound though from the other stories ive heard. Whatever it is though Google better be damn sure that I did something wrong because to have a banishment penalty built in to their algo is a bit heavy handed if you ask me.

Sounds to me like you were doing something wrong in Google's eyes. You do not lose 200 1st page ranks overnight if you are not doing something significantly wrong.

OP, do you have proof that your site was up & running the last time Google bot made a visit?

    Site down = ranking down.

I mean who knows. Have you ever tried to read that webmaster guidelines garbage its the most vague thing ever. I mean I do build backlinks, I use blog networks and I use Senuke. So do about a billion other people. My on-site content is almost all unique content. I have 15 other sites all which followed the same plan and all of which are doing fine. 2 even moved up the 1st page today. This seems a bit arbitrary. Am I guilty of something, sure I suppose but just as much as you or the next guy.

Webmaster tools isn't showing me any errors. The site loads up fine now. Its odd it almost seems like they stripped my homepage of all of its worth, PR just stripped of any sort of SERP power and now all the subsequent pages are ranked in the 300-800's some not at all and the homepage is nowhere to be found.

To add insult to injury Market Samurai keeps showing me that im #2 for my biggest search term, I was #6 but when I check im definitely not there. Seems to be a MS glitch.
