Do Spun Copies Of An Article Water Down The Original Version?

I do have a question that I am wondering about. Would appreciate some feedback from you guys if you don't mind. Lets say for example I have 6 original articles written. I post all 6 articles on a site like youtube for example. The 6 unique articles obviously all get indexed fast on youtube. I then take those same 6 articles and either spin them myself or have them spun to 65% unique. Can I submit the syntax articles to backlink these properties without watering down the original versions?

As I understand it since the originals are crawled and indexed first... The spun copies being distributed to wiki's, senuke, AMR etc. would not have any negative impact on the originals ability to rank. Since the first 6 would be viewed as the originals. Is this correct?

Simply put spun articles are crap. They don't make sense 9 out of 10 times and often get flagged and not indexed or counted. If you spend the time to write good quality articles that backlink they will gain a pr ranking and further help you rank. Should only take a few quality articles and backlinks to get you to rank for most of the keywords you want not a blast of 50 junk articles.

  I usually go by these 2 rules:
  
  1. Only high quality articles will every go on my main site. I will never spin it, but I might pay someone to re-write it.
  
  2. Spun articles will only be used for backlinks. I submit these to article directories and blog networks.

We are talking about backlinks here not trying to rank the spun content. The panda updates are more about people trying to rank properties containing unoriginal/spun content as I understand it. If you are talking about backlinking the content needs to be as unique as possible for the backlinks to count. Otherwise its all duplicate content and gets completely disregarded. Every backlinking service out there pretty much uses some form of spun content for a reason. Spun content works better than submitting the exact same article 500 places. Having a 100% original and unique article for each and every property you leave a link on is unrealistic. It would cost thousands of dollars or hundreds of hours of time.

Having a 100% original and unique article for each and every property you leave a link on is unrealistic. It would cost thousands of dollars or hundreds of hours of time.

If spun content is 2007, releasing the duplicate articles to 1,000 sites is so 2004.

Yes it's going to cost or hundreds of hours... yep... I'd say that's right.
You could hire smarter and work harder the $5K seems high but sure...

Anything in life worth doing cost...
If it was free and easy everyone would be rich...

  Yes, you absolutely can do this. What most people won't tell you is that people love to read spun articles. It's like a puzzle. They start with the fist sentence, and then after about 2-3 minutes, they have that sentence figured out...Then, they move on to the next sentence - and it's logically unrelated to the first sentence, so it's like they get to read a whole nother train of thought...two ideas for the price of one.
  
  Some of the greatest quotes of all time are actually spun content. In fact, MLK's I had a dream - totally spun. The original speech was actually entitled "I Was Thinking About This Thing".
  
  OK, enough humor...For backlinking purposes it won't matter. No one will read it, and none of those articles will outrank the first, if you send the majority your links to the first article.

You are going to find that manual link building is about to be so 2011/early 2012. Google has always hated manual backlink building, and they are getting better and better at slapping down the sites that do it. It would be best to just let links build naturally at this point. The wave will be crashing a lot sooner than people think.

You're better off writing brand new articles instead of using spun articles. Have you looked at the quality of the spun article? You might spend more time editing the article as opposed to if you created a brand new one from scratch.

  I find YouTube to be a vastly overrated article directory. There are all these videos cluttering up the place that draw the readers away from the textual content. So, I don't think it matters whether the content is original or spun because all people are doing is looking at the cute kitten trying to play piano.

Rick, I think the point here is that the backlinks you'd obtain from such methods would probably be of such low quality that it wouldn't really matter whether they were further "watered down".

Yeah, the 90's version with her Hollywood makeup applied.

Not the pictures of her when the Paparazzi caught her without makeup.

You know, few of those Hollywood starlets look as good in real life, when the Paparazzi catches them out of the town without their makeup.

If you manually spin each sentence of your article so that it says the same thing just in a different way but still keeps it's original meaning then you'll be OK. If you simply spin the article and don't edit it then it will read like crap and won't do you any good.

Hide the key!

You are working on an assumption. Google looks and reads content, then it looks and see's other content. Good spun content is never found to be the same as others if it is done well as Google has no idea about the key.

Hide the key!

If you hide the {spun article} Google could never tell. Exactly as I might have put a keyword here that the CIA can uncover but you would never know unless you have a dictionary.

Likewise if you hide the key, Google would not know unless you have done a sloppy job with rewriting. Setting up TBS in the right way can protect you as it does a fairly good job throughout each paragraph.

Something to remember. If you use a unique word like supercalifragilisticexpialidocious in a mortgage article and it shows up throughout spins, either Google will notice today or more likely will include this update in the next 3-5 years.

I'm beginning to abandon spinning. It doesn't seem to work anyway...
Post the article first to your blog, thenpost that same article a couple days later on ezinearticles, goarticles and buzzle. Then go get some backlinks. Social bookmarks and rss feed backlinks work well...

Spun articles are garbage. Also, why would you post articles on youtube? lol

I understand what you're asking though, and I believe that since the original article was already indexed the spun articles would be useless unless they are completely unique.
