Backlinking 101: I Need Your Help!
- SEO |
I'm a complete beginner and I could use some clarification with regards to creating backlinks.
I currently run a travelogue at KoreaConnection[dot]com. I started the site a year ago not knowing anything about IM. I've learned a little -- a very little! -- since then and I'm trying to implement that knowledge at the site to see what works and what doesn't.
The plan is to monetize the site eventually, but for now I'm content to just use it as a laboratory of sorts.
I'd like to drive more traffic to the site via backlinks, and I think I grok the basics: submit to article directories, create Web 2.0 properties, and then link those back to my main site.
But I need clarification on two points:
1) Should I link to invidual pages/posts on my site? I don't want to link everything to my home page, right?
2) Am I alright using my keywords to create backlinks?
For example, I've got a post at the site that provides details for visiting Chiaksan (a mountain range here in Korea).
If I submit, say, six articles to various directories about Chiaksan should I have them all pointing back to this post?
And do I need to vary my keyword? Lord knows I don't want to run afoul of the "Big G".
As always, any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
