The best SEO provider here on the forum is any of the services by Matt LaClear. I'd go as far to say that I wouldn't use, nor trust anyone else.

The name of the guy that wrote the WSO has been lost to the sands of time, but I do remember the Headline to the very guide you are looking for. Maybe you'll find it...

    Traffic...From Google?!
What if, and stick with me here, we could get our websites to show up when people searched for certain terms...and then sold people stuff on those websites?!

I don't know, but whichever one it turns out to be, I'd stay well away from it. As you can see for yourself, just from reading the panoply of threads on this subject, even following pre-Penguin update SEO information is currently damaging many Warriors' businesses and getting their sites heavily penalized and in some cases even de-indexed.

The Penguin update was only 2/3 months ago. Any information/services older than that could easily be even more out-of-date and dangerous.

SEO is still alive an well Alexa. The algorithm changed is all. Legit providers change with the algorithms. There is so much misinformation on the subject that pointing to other threads discussing the death of SEO would be miles long.

Er, Alexa, what would you do instead? Link building is hellishly time consuming. Makes sense to outsource it if you can find the right place.

I suggest that you focus more on quality content and very little on backlinking.

        Just my two cents.

I believed that for six years Jonathan - never did much deliberate link building, but concentrated on quality, believing Google would give me my reward in heaven.

Now I have a big, five year old site, PR 4, lots of serious quality info articles, PR4 Blog, thriving forum, thousands of members, tens of thousands of posts, and yet I find myself kept from page 1 for my main, mid-competition keywords by crappy thin sites with thousands of spam links.

          Thanks Google.

And as for the way single Youtube videos sit in the middle of page 1 with no effort at all, don't get me started.

I think some behind the scenes SEO is essential these days. Only question is which type!
