Hi
I wasn't sure what to call this. I'm sure there is a phrase..

Anyhow, how does Google respond to changing where an established link is pointing?

For example, I have an ezine article which has been around for a few years and for that period of time it's been pointing at site xxx.com. If I now go in and change the link to point at site zzz.com, what impact will that have on both sites and also the ezine article which is ranking quite well in it's own right?

Thanks

Probably you won't see any eye-catching ranking boost/drop, but if you want to boost zzz.com then it's a right move
I see. This is what I was hoping really. I literally want to borrow a little juice from one site and give a new site a little boost!

Best to ask Google. Google thrives on feedback and user ideas and they always try to give their users what they want. They are eager to hear ideas even if you like to implement your idea.

It is severely harmful to your website if you change the link, because Google know the article pointing to a particular website. And if you change the link Google will surely penalized your websites for this act.

Aaah right. A difference of opinion? Interesting because this is why I asked the question.

When you will delete an established link from xxx.com, this site will loss a good link, that will go against it and it will help your site zzz.com. But for few amount of links, this will not be any major facts and will not affect the PR.

OK, the main reason I am doing this is because I have some good original articles that are well established on Ezine, but the outbound links are pointing at pretty lame websites so all I want to do is point them at a new site that is better.

I'm not too bothered about the effect on the original site but would certainly not want the new site to suffer any penalities for an already established link suddenly pointing at it.
