Gadget Blog + Adsense

I'm looking at starting a gadget blog and was considering using Adsense as my main form of monetization. Any gadget bloggers out there who use Adsense? I'm just wondering if the CTR% is relatively decent on a gadget blog, or if the readers are a bit too net-savvy to click Adsense ads. Thanks in advance for any feedback.

In my experience anything that's tech related or gadget related gets a good CTR, I think because the typical visitor is seriously interested in that subject, wants as much detailed information as possible, and will click the ads looking for info as a result.

But it depends on your blog too. If you get lots of traffic it might be good to do CPA instead.

in my experience, techies don't click on ads too often but you can expect very good cpm for your ads if you have the traffic.

Thanks for the info guys. Anybody have any tips on Ad placement? I was considering a 300x250 rectangle (float:left) at the beginning of each post, and maybe a link unit either across the top or vertical link unit in the sidebar.

Aren't gadget blogs doomed from the start? I mean, how are you going to compete with all the big guys?
