How to Improve alexa rank of my site

I would suggest not putting too much weight on this metric. There is a lot of debate around the web as to how accurate and useful it is. Some people say that the data is totally exaggerated and skewed, others like to use it. Alexa collects its data by a tool bar installed in the browser for users. If users don’t have the tool bar installed, they are not counted in the data. So in theory, if a website had visitors that were well aware of the Alexa tool bar and didn’t want it installed, that site would have a horrible Alexa ranking. That’s probably a horribly extreme example but you get the idea.
In a nutshell, there are probably lots of other things you should be working hard on before you start worrying about this.

I completely agree I think Alexa is useless - but I understand why people would want to find a way to increase Alexa results, seeing as it's one of the factors automatically rated on Flippa auctions...

And I hear tell that it's quite easy to fake a high alexa ranking if you have a bit of a budget - by hiring someone with the right equipment & know-how, to simulate thousands of website views on browsers with the Alexa tool bar, seeminfly all from different IP ranges....

You're right. I uses have a terrible Alexa ranking. When I installed the toolbar after about 3 to 4 months my ranking went from about 7 million to just under 150,000. When I removed the toolbar within a month my ranking dropped to around 3 million.

I've tested this several times and it's always the same; and with the changes they've made over the years to monetize their data, if you're a marketer looking to see how you rank on the internet Alexa is not the way to go.

Try to get more traffic to your site. Write a review of your site on Alexa and ask your visitors to do the same. Add fresh content on your website regularly and write guest posts on other blogs to get quality backlinks.

Does anyone know if this still works for increasing Alexa Rank?

I have also read reports on the use of the Alexa Toolbar and how this also helps increase Ranking. The explanation given was that it is only the people with the Toolbar installed that is used to monitor the site visits. Does anyone have any opinion on this please?

At first I thought Traffic = Alexa Rankings but then I tested a site, threw a "paid" high quality theme on it and purposely went for as minimal traffic as possible. Alexa rankings started to go up just because of how the site looked. Traffic was about 1-5 visitors a day(mostly spiders) and rankings still increased. Keep in mind I had basically ZERO content to duplicate content/pictures. I did hit the site with fb likes/tweets/g+'s though. I would say site quality/looks and if you have social signals incorporated is a huge Alexa ranking factor.

This is not true. there are not any rule that to improve alexa rank you required alexa widget. Alexa fetches automatic your sites visitors. alexa rank only depend on visitors number of site. if your have 400 to 600 visitors daily on your site it should be near 50000.
high alexa rank indicate low visitors number on your site and low alexa rank means your site having lots of visitors daily.

The Alexa rank does not help you with anything really. It is a rough estimation of how much traffic you are getting.

Notes To Improve It:

1. Install the Alexa widget.
2. Get more traffic to your website.
3. Lower your bounce rate.
4. Add high quality content to your website.
5. Market your website properly.
6. Follow the latest white hat techniques in SEO.
7. Engage with your fans on social media networks.

Alexa is a measurement of visitors to your site that have the alexa tool bar. you want to increase your alexa count.. have them install the toolbar...seems easy enough

Why all that trouble? It's a pointless crap statistic that serves no purpose.

Just install the toolbar, a proxy rotation plugin, and an auto refresh plugin, and point the browser to your site. Or invest a fiver to purchase some "alexa-enabled" traffic.

Do not check the Alexa ranking of my website, as I haven't worked on it with all the tips as I no longer care about Alexa ranking. But! When I did use those tips & tricks at one of my other websites, it worked with flying marks, and shot down my Alexa ranking from 3 million to 50k.

After you download the Alexa Toolbar, you will be able to view your site's Alexa Rank on the Alexa Toolbar. In case you don't yet have it, this toolbar will show the message "No Data". However, you don't have to be concerned about this, since in just two days you will be able to see an Alexa Rank result for your website.

As far as i know, alexa toolbar is not needed for increase in alexa rank, alexa rank is all about the amount of traffic on the website, which is also not very accurate. If you just need to improve alexa rank you can buy some cheap paid traffic that will do the same, however this traffic has least chances of converting.

As long as you have a quality content all you need to do is link your site on Alexa and use their toolbar the one with the rank widget. That way you can monitor it better. You could also get traffic from bloggers and social media. Do a directory submission and write a good review about alexa.com.

The absolute only way to Improve your Alexa is to generate more traffic to your website. You can either do it naturally and organically. Or you can pay for it.

Some people buy real paid traffic and some people buy fake bot traffic with the sole purpose to boost there Alexa.

Not really. It measures the use of their toolbar, and makes some rather half-assed guesses (or "interpolation" to be generous) to get an arbitrary number that you can stare while waxing your carrot. Defrauding someone is one of the only uses for Alexa stats.

Or as I said in May 2015, if you find Alexa rank important it's likely that either you or someone around you is a dimwit.
