    Content for the most part you have to build yourself. You cannot build a business based on borrowed content. As to the best way to build back links you ask ten people and they will have ten opinions. For some forums work, for others blog posting, articles, press releases, directories are all viable options.

    Social bookmarks worked for me in low-mid competive niches. I just made sure to spin everything and keep up the link velocity. Which means: at least 1 order/week for my social bookmark provider.. This way google doesn't get suspicious. I have a diversified platform/ip backlinkprofile and my ranking increases steadily. I hope that will help you a little bit.

    Its interesting that people are still pushing buying links and trying to game the system. If you're in a niche for some short term gain by all means buy links that could look natural to Google and work to get your site to the top of the SERP's. I've done this for sites in the past and have made some great headway in low competition niches - as Google doesn't have as much of a choice and they don't spend as much time policing these niches (and local niches for that matter).

    However, if you a looking to build a longer term brand and build authority in a niche don't build back links - you need to EARN back links.

    You are correct in asking about content as this will be the foundation of building solid traffic, visitors and links. There are multiple ways to do this and create traffic quickly and EARN back links. I launched a WSO addressing these techniques.

    A couple of secrets - create excellent consumable content in your niche or have a someone write it for you (textbrokers.com or others). I recently had an article written for me. Once I received it I had to re-write sections but it gave me a starting point and it took a lot less time (maybe 15 minutes). I posted it to Social media news, strategy, tools, and techniques | Social Media Today - here it is - How Content Marketing Is the New Moneyball | Social Media Today

    Check out the share rate on it - literally hundreds of shares on several social networks. In my profile I have a link to my social profiles and my website. I received hundreds of visitors - the article was on my site as well and I received several natural back links to it - as well as some of my other posts. What did all of this cost me? $8.00 for the article and 15 minutes of time.

      For a car dealer it could be a multitude of topics:
      • The latest consumer ratings for the cars - and how your cars compare.
      • Why day trips are great ways to get the families out of the house - give the top 5 day trips that are local to your dealership. Of course if you offer a Van this would be perfect.
      • The top 5 secrets of the new toyota car that most owners never know - i.e. the ipod input adapter that most don't know how to use - etc...

        Wow, you are a genius. Some great tips on articles in just a few seconds. We are a car exporter based primarily in Asia, do you think such topics will also be relevant for our audience in Africa, Asia and the Southern America? Our customer base is mostly dealers, corporation and NGOs but some individuals as well. We get a lot of customers from Facebook but haven't figured out a way to find articles that will draw in our audiences.

          Not genius - just lots of years in IM you tend to make a ton of mistakes that you learn from.

          But to answer you yes I think these topics are relevant any where in the world. But I would put this back to you - what do you believe would be most relevant in the various parts of the world that you export cars to?

          Also, if you are an exporter your target audience is car dealers correct? If so, you would want to either stick to topics that matter to them and/or create content that they can use to build a relationships with their buyers.

          I would have to get more engaged in understanding your business model before knowing the best content marketing strategy for you. But to reiterate - you know your clients better than anyone else.

            Thanks for so much food for my mind. Most of our customers are dealers and organizations but number-wise we have more individual customers. Even though dealers and corporations buy a lot more vehicles and buy year after year, satisfied individual customers tend to be more loyal and spread the message through word of mouth off line and online. So come to think of it, we want to engage these potential word of mouth evangelists more.

            I notice that most articles are geared for American vehicles so have to be original in find ways to write articles that will appeal to our customer base.

        Of course, there are tons of sites with fake PR.

        There are also some that may have lost their backlinks.

        Either way, the PR will drop when the next update comes around.

        I thought PR being based on backlinks was common knowledge in SEO, but I guess not.

    After everything happening with Google and seo, I have decided never to build a site relying on seo anymore. Just give your readers frequent quality content. Do more in social booking, video marketing and social media networking. I have ost on my sites that rank well in the search engines even do I haven't built a backlinks to the site.
