Digg Redirecting links?

Looks like Digg has come up with some changes today, so do we still get credited with backlinks or not?

    Digg had "no follow" for years. So in terms of SEO they have been useless for already a long period of time.

      Comments are do follow
      Popular stories are do follow
      profile is dofollow

      however sometimes the links become nofollow for short time and the get back to do follow

      NONSENSE!

      Dig was never a nofollow, this new change just happened recently. Digg was one of the MANY places that people used to get indexed quickly. Now this wont happen now that they have incorporated the Iframe to display people's sites.

    Interesting, but I think Google bot will soon figure out a way to follow iframe, that's the nature of the site, giving vote to other site, if Google want to discover good information, they should follow the link...

    Let's wait and see how things works out.

      Google can follow iframes if they want to. The URL is still in the html code.

      Actually, a few years ago I believe Google took into account the content in iframes, but it's been a while since I tested this and may not be true any longer.

      Where the iframes hurt is building other links. If a blogger sees an article of your's they like, now they will see the Digg address in their browser, instead of your address, meaning Digg will probably get the link benefit. Not fair and not good.

        I personally think they can, but they just choose not to, or don't bother with the extra processing, or include it in ranking algorithms.

        they can read java script links, before someone says it's not possible, you can. the text is readable. whether the search engine wants to go through all that processing to extract the text url is a different matter, as that too with iframes.

      Digg is do follow. Try providing a link from digg and check the links to your site it will be one of the first to show up.

        That might not be the case any more since they are hiding all links inside an iframe.

    The url has to be somewhere in the code for it to appear on the screen so Google will be able to index it, but as far is it being a link from Digg that it probably is not anymore

      Hey guys,

      I was just pulling down some emails, and got this newsletter, i normally delete 'em, but for some reason I just decided to read this one.

      Any way, the concern regarding DIGG.

      the canonical link is there, so when the search engine crawls the new digg shortened url, the search engine will know that the canonical url is the original source.

      Page rank if any, will still be applied to the canonical url - i mean that by if you take a look, you will see another hyperlink to the source, the noindex on the page source is so not to index the iframe. none the less will follow all links.

      you'll also notice if you click on the [more...] link in the digg listing, it will take you to a new page that will show all the comments, hey, links placed in the comment area are also dofollow, but don't abuse it ppl, cos it will ruin it for everyone else. place only related urls, IF it will help others.

Most of which have been suggesting that Digg has been no good as a source for inbound links to your site. However, the experts suggest, Digg can be a powerful traffic generating platform if used the way it was designed for.
