    Improving the content will always get you higher trust from Google,in some cases resulting in higher rankings.
    Regarding the trafic,if your content is top notch,your visitors will spend more time on ur site and the CTR for your`ads will increase

    Replace the existing content if it is a low quality content. If it not then I would rather suggest to add the fresh content. Search Engine loves content. Regularly adding a quality content would help in ranking your keywords and improving the traffic.
