Need advice whether I am punished or not

Hi

I have never been able to rank my website and I believe it comes down to not many incoming links compared to competitors. I have never actively build links to my site where most of my competitors have.

I got great unique content. The reason why I say great is because my visitors says so. I have also produced many videos which are very popular on youtube. I can see that based on feedback and likes. All is real. No fake likes or anything.

I have accepted that I could not rank and accepted my traffic comes from youtube.

HOWEVER

I recently noticed some sites ranking higher than me with MY content. Stolen from my site. This made me wonder.

I copied a paragraph from some of my sites and search in Google for it. I do not appear on page one or even the first 10 pages. How can this be when its a paragraph?

I do not think I have been directly punished as my PR on home page is 4 and I have 1 keyword on page 2. The rest of my keywords are awful.

Any idea how this can be? I got unique content with images and video and yet I cannot rank. Someone steal my content and they rank. Is my domain damaged somehow?

4 years in and I still dont understand why I cannot rank at all.

Thank you in advance.

Unfortunately, websites that are old and well-optimized have many advantages.

Their content was not as good as yours, so they copied your content and this fact was advantageous for them because they already were in a good position. Google doesn’t know that they are thieves.

You can complain about this matter and tell Google that they stole your content, but even if they will remove your content from their websites, your website won't rank higher.

It’s becoming always harder to have a good ranking with all these Google updates, which are sending websites that used to appear in the first results page (when someone would type in their main keywords) to the last pages.

If your competitors are powerful and they can do what is necessary to have a good ranking based on Google’s requirements, they won't let your website surpass theirs.

You have to do many things to drive free traffic to your website, or pay for traffic. The second option seems to be the only one that is working for most people. Google was very generous with us for more than ten years, but now we have to pay to get the old free traffic of the past.

I agree on this and that is why I work hard on my youtube videos.

I am still curious as to how I can take a paragraph of my content and search for it and still not show up in the first 10 pages. Exact search of like 3 sentences.

I guess I'm missing the point. If you have a PR4 on your home page, how is that not ranking at all?

One thing that boosts your rank is to have back links to your site - not just to the main page, but to the inside pages as well. There are many ways to get back links - some more time consuming than others - some more effective than others.

You want good back links from respectable sites, preferably from a site that somehow complements yours. If you have a dating site, for instance, a link to it from a site with a related offer is best. Maybe someone promoting a certain type of dating service. And preferably if the site has at least a PR2 rank. Unrelated sites can also provide good back links. I think it depends how Google wants to consider them.

As far as your content getting ranked on someone else's site - it's not about the content as much as it is about the site's standing based on its entirety.

Sorry I could have been more precise. I am ranking for 1 keyword and that is my domain. It is an EMD but 3 words. So its not like crazy EMD.

Some of my competitors has 200,000 links which in my industry is just not realistic. I can never build that many and that is why I focused on Youtube. But after 4 years and more than 150 indexed pages I would have thought I could rank for more than the EMD keyword.

I guess I must work harder on alternative traffic.

      I appreciate both your replies.

It sounds like you need to find some more keywords that are not high competition. Links from YouTube are great, but you need links from other sources as well. You don't really need to find 200,000 places for your links. What you do need are good quality links so that you don't need as many.

Try finding ways to get other people to promote your link. For instance, create something that they will pass on to others by putting the links on their own pages and telling their visitors - here's a great product. They'll do that if your product meets the needs of their visitors. Another web site owner who also likes the link will also link to it after hearing about it from the first site owner. See? It becomes a viral thing.

You can do it with an article. Give it to one site such as an article directory with permission for other web site owners to take that article and publish it on their sites. If it's a good, informative article it should draw a lot of attention and clicks to your site.

My favorite marketing method is with article distribution.

The inevitable conclusion: don't rely on Google for traffic. It's quite obvious that the SERPs are out of hand. Why do you even worry about it in the first place? You're essentially micromanaging and wasting valuable time that you could use to create products and services that others can't steal from you.

If your index page is a PR4 that means you have decent incoming links (I assume they're relevant links), so piggyback off that Index page for internal pages/links & relevant keywords.

Thank you for your suggestion. Sounds like a good idea. I will definitely try that too.

1.Make a list of each site who has ripped your content.
2.Use Whois Lookup & IP | Whois.net and to try find the owners details.
2.Use Reverse DNS & IP Lookup| Whois.net to find their IP and who hosts their website.

Fill in the blanks, and send it to their hosting company. Then the following day to them. Most hosting companies will kill their site immediately. That should wake them up to the problem.

If you have any problems finding info on hosting or owners, let me know and I can help with that.
