Why is my site ranked higher with the tags URL and not the main??

I couldn't figure out why my site's posts rank in the tags url like site.com/tag/keyword

than site.com/post

eg. check the keyword videogenesis.com review and check one of the ranked sites

You need to turn off the indexing of your tags... Basically you will have your regular posted page than a tag/keyword page as you mentioned and eventually an archived page so it can be a mess in the search engines. You only want one of them and thats the main post.

If your using wordpress download Yoast wordpress SEO... then under titles & metas > taxonomies you will see you can check the box to noindex,follow tags and archives.

I made the same mistake before when I first made a blog realizing my tagged pages were ranked higher than the post.

But why is then both are indexed but the tags URL appears way higher than that of the post URL? If I make tags "NO index", then is there a chance for the post URL to appear higher in the rankings? Thx.
