Dealing with Unhappy Clients?

recently setup an Adwords campaign for a client. From the beginning AND in the contract was specified
1). Adwords is NOT SEO which is organic rankings. Adwords is just placing display ads to the right on organic results when a user types in your specifiic keywords.
2). A critical component of a PPC campaign is testing, rewriting and creating new ads and testing. The goal is to optimize your landing page for good conversions. This process can take months.

So, about 2 months after the client sends an email stating "I had two SEO reports generated and both say my site is no where to be found.
Also, I don't seem to be getting any business from my ads. I would like a refund.".
I am wondering how other consultants handle this issue. Of course I explained SEO and PPC are unrelated in that PPC has no influence on SEO. I also explained that she need to manage her PPC campaign after the initial 30 days of my contract expired. I also gave her the option to hir eme to manage on a monthly basis, but she declined,

  • well, Some folks go after refund No matter how good you do your job.
They don`t care no matter how you explain or try to give them extras and "bonuses",
they just want their money back.

It sucks but That`s just the way it is. I`ve found it easier to give them the refund and forget them.
