Okay so the other day I was looking through some of my old blog post from when I first started and noticed that some could be improved or expanded upon. Now these post are about two years old. My question is should I just edit them in WP or should I edit them repost them as a new blog post and delete the old one? Which is better for SEO purposes?

Maybe a little more info will help the articles currently don't have a great amount of links or PR but were imported from a blogger blog.

  • unkwnUsr,

I would leave them in the same location (i.e. don’t delete the old ones) and just expand on them. You could always re-purpose them on social networks. The reason is that those URLs are already indexed in search and may have links already built to them. I suppose you could redirect the old URLs and I also suppose that if you knew for certain that they were not receiving any traffic it would be ok to delete the old one and repost.

If it were me I would leave the old URLs intact.

    Best,

Thank you, I guess that's probably the safest way to go otherwise I may end up with a bunch of page not found errors. Posting them again would probably just lead to a temporary traffic spike anyway that wouldn't last very long.

Edit the old post/page, that way If any old internal/external links are pointing at the old page you don't have to mess around with 301 redirects to try & salvage links/traffic.

If you do it this way (old post edit) the only thing you can't change/edit is the old URL (unless you like doing 301 redirects), you can change/edit anything else on the post/page.

Don't delete them, just update the content. One of my clients deleted old articles and created a million 404 errors that were a nightmare to fix. Thankfully we had a moz account to help identify them.

Hi to all, If you have old articles then I would suggest you use them in your blog with changes in content. And share all them on social networking sites.
