A secondary page ranking for primary keyword
- SEO |
I'm not sure if I was impacted by Google Hummingbird or Penguin 2.1 but last week I noticed that I lost the ranking for my homepage for my keyword. However, now one of my blog posts ranks for my primary keyword on page 8 or so. It's really bizarre as I have a business listing ranking on page 4 and my homepage is no where to be seen. I initially thought of keyword cannibalization, which could be the cause as my site uses the same primary keywords and variations of it on other pages i.e Apple benefits/Apple health symptoms.
But I'm really unsure. I haven't had a solid SEO plan to the site in several months so I want to know if anyone has experienced something similar and what you did to recover it. Another site I run for a friend lost a heap of rankings but I'm fairly sure that was due to a 301 redirect I used when I launched the website (as everything else is white hat).
Any ideas?
Cheers
