Best way to use Readers' Pet Images for SEO/Social?

I'll have a way for users to submit their pets' images on my site. The images will be used for articles or contests. So what is a good way to do this and I get SEO power? If there's a way to gain Social power to, I'd like to integrate the two.
Have them just post it to my FB? Have a page that has all the submitted images uploaded directly? Then I pull them from that page and put them in an article?
