Recommended tool for finding keyword search volume

I just looked at Google's new keyword planner tool (they expired the old keyword tool) And I really don't think the results are accurate at all (am i wrong) I searched for some keywords on search estimates and put it against some sites where I rank #1 for the keyword.

My website had almost 10x the traffic from that keyword than google estimated.

At any rate, does anyone have any other free tools they recommend for simply gathering estimated search volumes on keywords?

I just really don't like the new google keyword planner. Anyone else seeing the same issues?

  Since most keyword tools (paid or otherwise) get their data from the Google Keyword Planner, I guess there aren't that many options.
  
  Have you tried Wordtracker's free tool? I haven't tried it, so it's not really a recommendation but you could explore it.

Google keyword planner is the best for getting long tail keyword phrases. I have used this many times and found a good tool for keyword research.

I use google Keyword planner is the very best free keyword tool ever and it seems like a new version of GKT but if you don't know how to use it then i refer you ubersuggest.org.
